Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to Exchange / Error in Outlook

Outlook 2016 won’t open or opens with an error:

“Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Microsoft Exchange information service in your profile is missing required information”

System resources are critically low. Close some windows

I tried everything from verifying DNS settings via Admin centre to checking localhost / host file thinking it may not be resolving the name correctly. Since Outlook 2016 relies on Autodiscovery and pretty much doesn’t work otherwise, I noticed that the pop up that was prompting me to re-enter the password had the server name different to what it meant to be “”.

Tested connectivity to Exchange via

Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook, Cannot Open The Outlook Window. The Set Of Folders Cannot Be Opened. The Information Store Could Not Be Opened

Ended up calling Microsoft and here is the fix that did the trick:

Go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Autodiscover
Create DWORD ExcludeHttpsRootDomain and value (1)

Apple Pay is now widely accepted. When do the banks follow?

ANZ is now well ahead of the game, with cards are 100% compatible with Apple Wallet and Apple Pay.

I went to the IGA just the other day and while using Pay Pass I noticed that there was a tiny Apple logo on the machine indicating ‘Apple Pay’.

Curious, I turned around and asked one of the staff members what this was all about.  She couldn’t say, but I knew – somewhere very deep in my heart – that this was the long-awaited NFC chip, coming to our lives quickly and inevitably. This means that everyone can store their card info in their phones and use the inbuilt chip in the phone to pay for the goods and services.  And as an added bonus, the system also remembers your postal address and saves time while shopping.

As excited as I was, I remained calm and checked my phone.  I opened ‘Wallet’ (the standard app that comes with the new iOS) and wanted to add all of my cards to the phone.

Surprisingly, and to my extreme disappointment, the App refused to accept my card. When I pressed the “Learn More” option, I learned that apparently only ANZ supports this fantastic feature…

My first and only thought was. Should I re-open my account with ANZ?

I looked up online and found this:

“CBA, Westpac and NAB were desperately communicating with their tech-savvy customers through social media channels on Thursday to prevent them from switching to ANZ.

One NAB customer asked on Twitter: “Hey is there any movement on when NAB will support Apple Pay? I’m very interested”. NAB responded: “No news just yet Darren, hang in there, we are working on expanding customers digital payment options.”

Darren was not willing to wait. He responded: “@NAB I have already applied for an account this morning with @ANZ_AU Apple Pay is to [sic] great to miss out on”. NAB responded: “Sorry to see you go Darren”.

Seriously…if you are in business, you must think about how to attract more clients and how to keep existing clientele up to date with modern technology and trends. Westpac?

How To Upgrade To Windows 10 and Not Have Issues.

Upgrading to Windows 10 can be very exciting or become your worst nightmare if not done correctly.

Here is the list of 5 things you need to do before the upgrade:

  1. Perform the backup. Your computer can be backed up using Windows “Backup and Restore” software or use backup from a third party: / Home Product > True Image
  2. Open a a command prompt with admin privileges and perform System File Check. This is done to make sure that your files are all in order and you have no alterations made that would affect Windows 10 Installation:

  3. Perform check disc using Command Line utility (Command Prompt) with admin privileges and restart your computer:chkdsk
  4. Check if your Printer / Scanner is compatible with Windows 10.
Make sure you have access or know where to download the software from for your scanner. If you have Canon or Samsung Multi-functional printer we recommend to remove the software and re-install after an upgrade.
  5. Important: You can roll back to Windows 7 within 30 days after upgrading to Windows 10.

Call us (08) 6555 6500 if you have any issues or email to and..

Good Luck!

How to Disable Windows 10 Upgrade Pop Up

We have been asked from a number of our clients how to permanently disable an Upgrade to Windows 10.windows10upgrade

After the latest incident with the cat sleeping on a keyboard and accidentally pressing “Upgrade Now” button, we thought that there is no better time to post a link to an App that could prevent you from waking up to a brand new, but “Unwelcomed” for some, Windows 10

All you need to do is to Download and run GWX Control Panel and Remove and Option for an upgrade all together.

What would this tool do:

  • Removes Microsoft’s “Get Windows 10” nagware app from your notification area
  • Checks for system settings that leave you vulnerable to unwanted Windows 10 upgrades and gives you the ability to fix them
  • Restores your Windows Update control panel to its normal behavior if it gets hijacked by Windows 10 advertisements or installers
  • Locates and deletes hidden Windows 10 installer files that Microsoft secretly downloads to your computer
  • Easily deletes hard-to-remove program files that are known to prepare your computer for Windows 10 upgrades
  • Alerts you if your Windows Update settings change from one of the safer “download only” or “check only” options to “automatically install” behind your back and gives you the chance to fix it
  • Optionally generates enhanced diagnostic reports that give you detailed information on any settings GWX Control Panel finds that leave you open to unwanted Windows 10 behavior
  • Provides an optional “Monitor Mode” runs quietly in the background watching for unexpected system changes, and alerts you as soon as any Windows 10 settings or files are detected

A Parable: Why people in the same role may be paid a different wage.

An employee (Matt) came to his Master (employer) one day and raised his concern:

  • Dear Master, I have always been curious: why is it that you only pay me $15 an hour while paying $30 to Lukas, when it would appear that we are doing the same job?

His Master did not respond.  Instead, he looked out of the window and said:

  • I think there is someone outside, possibly selling hay. We need to buy some to get us through the winter.  Do you mind going and checking it out for me, please?
  • No worries, Boss.

Matt went outside, returning right away:

  • Yes, Master, they are selling hay.
  • Are they really? Do you happen to know if it is from the Elysian Fields?
  • I don’t know.
  • Would you mind asking, please?

Matt went outside again and came back:

  • Yes, Master, it is from the Elysian Fields.
  • Great! Did you ask them whether it is the first harvest?
  • Why would I ask them that?
  • Well, please go back and check.

Matt came back a minute later:

  • Yes, Master, they confirmed this was their first harvest.
  • That’s good. Do you know how much they are selling it for?
  • No, I didn’t ask.
  • We need it, though. Would you be able to find out the price?
  • Sure; shouldn’t be a problem.

A minute later:

  • $25 per truck load.
  • Yeah? That sounds a bit expensive.  Would they offer any discount?

That same minute, Lukas comes in through the door:

  • Master, I’m sorry to interrupt, but there are people outside selling hay from the Elysian Fields. It’s their first harvest and they are selling it for $25 but I managed to get them to drop the price to $18 per truck load.  They are just unloading it outside.

Master turned his head towards Matt, a faint smile on his face:

  • Now do you understand why I pay you $15 while $30 goes to Lukas?
